The Second Training of the Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System Meeting Held

The second training of the Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System under Activity Set 5 was held by the “Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye within the scope of the Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Programme (IPA-2). The meeting was convened in Edirne between February 24-26, 2025, with the participation of stakeholders in the basin region.

The training was started under the chairmanship of the General Directorate of Water Management, Flood Forecasting and Early Warning Center (TATUM). In the first session of the training program, attended by stakeholder institutions and organizations, TATUS Software was introduced to the participants in general terms. Subsequently, a comprehensive technical presentation was made on GIS-based visualization and data analysis, data sources and integration, and flood risk and data correlations. In the following sessions of the training, more implementations were shared with the participants such as flood risk data, alarm installation and warning system and output comparisons with online measurements and user customization of outputs.

On the last day of the training, following the excursion organized within the basin, the participants discussed the use of online measurements in field studies and the integration of field data and software. Following the discussions in the general evaluation session, the Second Training of TATUS was concluded.
