Preparation of Flood Hazard Maps Site Visits Led by Ms. Afıre Sever, General Director of Water

On October 3, 2024 a site visit was undertook for the mapping studies after various courtesy visits to the relevant institutions within the scope of Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin project financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye as a part of Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Programme (IPA-2), Activity 2.6 Preparation of Flood Hazard Maps and under the chairmanship of Ms. Afire Sever, General Director of Water Management.



The delegation consisting of the End Recipient members of the General Directorate of Water Management including Deputy General Manager Mr. Satuk Buğra Fındık, Head of Flood and Drought Department Mr. Mustafa Dal, Project Control Engineers Mr. Mesut Yılmaz and Ms. Elif Merve Erkayman, State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) 11th Regional Branch Manager Mr. Saadettin Malkaralı, representatives of Edirne Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Technical Assistance Team and project company officials payed their visits to the Meteorology Directorate under the 1st Regional Directorate of Istanbul, Edirne Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and 11th Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI).




Subsequently, a field study was conducted for on-site examination of the flood hazard and risk maps of the basin and determination of Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System (TATUS) flood estimation points. Necessary examinations were made upon visiting the places where the maps were surveyed and the stream gaging stations in the region.
