The 18th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting of Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin Project Held

The 18th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting of the “Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye within the scope of Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Programme (IPA-2), was held on June 3, 2024. 

The meeting was attended by Representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, the Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change, Delegation of European Union to Türkiye and the contractor company officials and chaired by Mr. Satuk Buğra Fındık, Deputy Director General of Water Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the End Recipient.

The meeting started with the opening speech of Mr. Fındık. Subsequently, Mr. Görkem Önder from the Project Technical Assistance Team conveyed a brief covering the overall progress of the project along with the project activities completed since the previous meeting.

Following the presentation, a Q&A session was held to exchange ideas on the overall project course. The session addressed submissions of the one and two dimensional hydraulic models to be built within the following project term, model validation phases and their relevant field studies, as well as the upcoming study visits abroad. The course and execution of these activities in the continuation of the project were discussed and the views of the relevant representatives were consulted. A roadmap was set in accordance with the actions to be completed by the next monthly meeting to be held in July. The meeting ended after the Q&A session.
