Within the scope of Activity 3.2 of the "Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, funded by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye through the Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Program (IPA-II), a 4-day Study Visit was organized to the Czech Republic and Germany. The visit aimed to observe best practices in flood and water management within the European Union and to foster an exchange of information and expertise.
Within the course of the study visit, participants consisting of representatives from the General Directorate of Water Management, stakeholders from relevant public institutions, and representatives of the Contractor held technical meetings with various institutions who possess an extensive level of expertise on the field of water management. A mutual exchange of information was established with the relevant institutions and other private organizations similarly dealing with transboundary river issues, focusing on the development of flood management plans, the enhancement of flood and drought forecasting and early warning systems, and the adoption of innovative measures to improve resilience against future flood risks. Subsequently, through excursions to the Vlatava River, flood protection structures and measures implemented were closely examined on-site.
