The Project’s 24th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting Held

Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye within the scope of Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Program (IPA-2), was held on February 13, 2025. 

Representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, the Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change, Delegation of European Union to Türkiye and the contractor company officials attended the meeting chaired by Ms. Afire Sever, Director General of Water Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the End Recipient. 

Following Ms. Sever’s opening remarks, the Operation Coordination Unit members exchanged ideas and shared recommendations on enhancing the project's visibility. Subsequently, Mr. Görkem Önder delivered a presentation outlining the progress made in the project and the upcoming activities planned within the project work schedule.

During the meeting, preparations for the second training on the development of the web-based software for the Meriç-Ergene Basin Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System, set to take place on February 24-26, 2025, were reviewed. Additionally, participants were briefed on the upcoming workshop, scheduled for February 27-28, 2025, which will focus on sharing the draft flood risk maps with stakeholders.

The discussion then shifted to an assessment of project activities and the steps to be taken in the next phase. Representatives provided their feedback, exchanged ideas on the project's overall progress, and discussed future initiatives. The meeting concluded with the finalization of the updated roadmap in line with the agreed decisions, followed by a Q&A session.
