Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin Project 19th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting Held

The 19th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting of the “Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye within the scope of Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Programme (IPA-2), was held in a hybrid setting on August 5, 2024. 

The meeting was attended by Representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, the Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change, Delegation of European Union to Türkiye and the contractor company officials and chaired by Mr. Satuk Buğra Fındık, Deputy Director General of Water Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the End Recipient. 

The meeting started with the opening speech of Mr. Fındık. Subsequently, Mr. Egemen Fırat, Deputy Team Leader, delivered a brief presentation, conveying the progress and outputs of the project since the previous meeting.

Following the presentation, a Q&A session was held to exchange ideas on the overall project course. The session addressed the validation phases of the completed one and two dimensional hydraulic models and their relevant field checks performed in-situ, as well as the upcoming study visits abroad within the upcoming project term. The course and execution of these activities were discussed by the parties along with the consultations of relevant representatives for further insight. The workplan was updated in line with the actions planned until the next monthly meeting to be held in September. The meeting ended after the Q&A session.
