The Project’s 25th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting Held

The 25^th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting of the “Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin” project, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye within the scope of Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Program (IPA-2), was held on March 27, 2025. 

Representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, the Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change, Delegation of European Union to Türkiye and the contractor company officials attended the meeting chaired by Ms. Afire Sever, Director General of Water Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the End Recipient. 

Following Ms. Sever’s opening remarks, the Operation Coordination Unit members exchanged ideas and shared recommendations on enhancing the project's visibility. Subsequently, Mr. Görkem Önder delivered a presentation outlining the progress made in the project and the upcoming activities planned within the project work schedule.

Recent events and completed activities of the project were addressed, such as the study visit organized in Germany and the Czech Republic on February 17-20 and the second training on the development of the web-based software for the Meriç-Ergene Basin Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System that took place in the Basin the following week. Additionally, participants were briefed on the upcoming workshop in Edirne, set for April 8-10, 2025, that aims to share the draft flood risk maps with stakeholders.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A session, where epresentatives provided their feedback on the project's overall progress and discussed future initiatives. The meeting ended after the assessments.
