Activity 3.1 Workshop on Preparation of Flood Risk Management Plan was held on April 8-10, 2025 in Edirne with the participation of stakeholders in the basin within the scope of the project "Technical Assistance to Prepare Flood Risk Management Plan for Meriç-Ergene River Basin" funded by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye under the Environment and Climate Action Sector Operational Program (IPA-2). The main objective of the workshop was to facilitate the exchange of information among stakeholders regarding the preparation of a flood risk management plan at the basin scale.

The first session of the workshop, held under the chairmanship of the Directorate General of Water Management with the participation of relevant stakeholder institutions and organizations, featured a comprehensive technical presentation on the current flood management plan practices in Türkiye.

Subsequently, the Technical Assistance Team delivered a detailed presentation on the studies conducted within the scope of the project, during which the final flood risk maps developed were presented and shared with the participants. In the afternoon, further presentations were delivered regarding the preparation process of the flood risk management plan and the methodology applied.

On the second day of the event, presentations were made on the types of measures proposed and implemented for the identified flood risks, along with practical demonstrations to enhance understanding among participants. In the afternoon session, a technical site visit was conducted to locations where the respective measures had been implemented, allowing for on-site observations and evaluations.

On the final day of the workshop, the results achieved within the scope of the project were presented to the participants. The workshop concluded with a general evaluation and Q&A session, followed by the collection of participants’ feedback and suggestions.
